Friday and Saturday
Lots to explore in and around Ferndale during the weekend
Friday evening is a rehearsal dinner for family (5pm), dress is casual, and after dinner we invite anyone in town to join us at the Palace Saloon on Main Street in Ferndale for a drink (around 9pm)!
On Saturday the wedding and cocktail reception will be at the farm, starting at 4pm. Summer evenings in Ferndale are chilly, so please don't forget to bring a coat!

There will be a shuttle to the wedding site from Ferndale (US Bank Parking Lot) starting at 3pm, and runs approximately every 20 minutes to the wedding until 6pm. Return to Ferndale shuttle begins at 9pm and runs every half hour until 1am.
Sunday
Camper potluck pancake breakfast 8-10:30 at Wedding Camping Area organized by Sally and Herb Jennings.
Stop by the Leonardi's house for coffee on your way out of town to say goodbye - between 10 and 12ish.
Consider staying a little longer after the weekend. Redwood forest hikes, beach walks, boat cruise on Humboldt Bay, National Parks, a drive to the beautiful lost coast... So many options!

Don't be fooled by the California address... It's chilly at night in Ferndale!
It will likely be cold, foggy, rainy, AND beautiful at some point over the weekend, so pack your fleeces, sweaters, leggings... whatever keeps you at the party after the sun goes down and the fog comes out!
The wedding and party will be in a field, so gals will be more comfy not in heels.

Where to Stay
Ferndale, population 1,200, only has a few options for accommodations and is mostly already full. In neighboring Fortuna, there's a Best Western, or you can camp on the farm near the wedding area.
Hotels in Fortuna
Only 10 minute drive from Ferndale!
Fortuna is the closest neighboring town with more hotels. We blocked some rooms that are saved up until June 14th for Johnson/Leonardi Wedding at a flat rate of $150 for either a king or two queen beds, which includes breakfast. Call to reserve and for details. Let us know if you'd like a shuttle to and from the wedding.

Inns in Ferndale
There are a few places to stay in town. We'll have a shuttle running from Ferndale to the wedding and back.
Victorian Village Inn - A Victorian style B&B with great breakfast included in the heart of town. Rates range from $130 to $270. This is a classic place to stay and eat in Ferndale. Phone: 707-786-4949
Francis Creek Inn - A basic and affordable 4-room motel in the center of Ferndale, rooms starting at $88. Phone: 707-786-9611.
Hotel Ivanhoe - Another Victorian style 4-room hotel $95 to $150. This is above a favorite Ferndale bar and restaurant and is located in the center of town also. Phone: 707-786-9000.
Gingerbread Mansion - More expensive B&B, in an iconic Ferndale mansion.
Redwood Suites - A little hotel in Ferndale with a range of different suites priced from $115 to $145, with a great breakfast included at the neighboring VI restaurant. It's well-located, clean, and recommended, but may be booked up for summer already. Call for reservations: 707-786-5000.
Camping on the Farm
The more the merrier!
Rustic camping will be available in one of the Leonardi's fields next to the wedding site! Bring your camping gear and we'll have a bathroom and an outdoor shower set up there for the weekend. Stay for as many nights as you like.
You can also throw your sleeping bags down in the backyard or inside of an unfurnished house in the process of being renovated that we have in Ferndale at 1059 Main Street. It's in town, which is handy if campers want to crash there on Friday night. Campers can drop by and use the showers and kitchen there too.
Vacation houses in Ferndale
Airbnb and VRBO are the best bets
There are a few houses for rent around Ferndale. Check the Chamber of Commerce website for a few more places.
Getting to Ferndale
It's very remote, but the drive is beautiful. Getting there is half the fun!
By Car
It's a gorgeous drive
Ferndale is about 20 minutes south of Eureka, off highway 101. It is five and a half hours north of San Francisco and six and a half hours south of Newport, Oregon via the coastal route.
The drive north along highway 101 is beautiful. It winds through the wine country and the redwood forest.
By Plane
You can either:
- Fly to San Francisco area (also try Oakland and Sacramento airports), rent a car, and drive five and a half hours north.
- Fly directly to Arcata/Eureka Regional Airport (ACV), which is 40 minutes north of Ferndale.
- Fly to Santa Rosa Airport, and then drive four hours to Ferndale.

We hope you can join us and our families to celebrate our wedding!
We will spend the weekend in Elizabeth's home town in Northern California, with the wedding and party held on the Leonardi's dairy farm. It will be a laid-back weekend get-together of friends and relatives with lots to enjoy, from wild beaches to the Redwoods to the charming small town of Ferndale.
After a year abroad, it will be a wonderful chance to catch up and celebrate with everyone we love.
